LifeScore and Social Hackathon Social Campaign – The Power of a Day
The social campaign LifeScore and Social Hackathon are part of the wider LifeScore Initiative.
For the Social Hackathon – The Power of a Day, Corteva Agriscience™, in early September, chose the city of Thessaloniki in order to create the communication materials of the messages of the social campaign LifeScore. Through this action LifeScore will take shape and will become known to the general public. What does Social Hackathon mean? The term “Hackathon” comes from the words “Hackers” – “Marathon” and is the creative meeting of experts in a certain field for a specific time with a common purpose. When the purpose is public benefit, it is called Social Hackathon.
The Social Hackathon was implemented by 150 volunteers / employees of Corteva Agriscience™, young farmers and entrepreneurs from all over the country, members of the Agricultural University of Athens and the NGO “BOROUME”. With the guidance of 30 renowned professionals in the field of communication and art, the volunteers-participants, without any specialization, working tirelessly and with endless energy, managed to create materials of professional level and unique aesthetics in a single day. They created a TV commercial, an animation movie, Social media statements (copy and visuals) and Group Art deliverables and enabled the first complete Social Campaign against Food Waste – under the name “LifeScore”!
LifeScore initiative and LifeScore Social Campaign were officially launched on the 22nd October 2019, during a main press conference, co-organized by Corteva Agriscience™ Greece, the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) and NGO “Boroume”. The Press Event attended many reporters from national and agricultural media and took place at the European Parliament’s office in Greece. The Deputy Minister of Agriculture in Greece, Mr. Kostas Skrekas attended the panel together with Corteva Agriscience™ administration, the Rector of AUA and the Founder of NGO “Boroume”, also a spokesperson from the European Parliament addressed a brief supporting speech. Major national press already wrote about Corteva Agriscience™ and this initiative and TV interviews have already been related.
Corteva Agriscience’s ally and social institution to which the materials for the implementation of the LifeScore social campaign are donated is “Boroume”. “Boroume” is an NGO specializing in reducing food waste and combating malnutrition in Greece. It is noted that “Boroume” was awarded in 2017 with the European Citizen’s Award by the European Commission for its services in promoting the principles of the European Union.
LifeScore’s first regional initiative activation took place at Thessaly (Central Greece Region).
